Eighteen years ago, my wife Kathy and I began to plant our vineyard in Rincon Valley. It’s been an incredible chapter of my life.
On January 11, we sold Kick Ranch to its new stewards, Mark and Beth Hanson – native Californians with roots in the wine industry. They currently live on a 40 acre farm, including the Bricoleur Vineyard – a 21 acre Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyard, on Starr Road in Windsor, California.
As exciting it was to accept an offer for our vineyard, it also left me with a sense of loss. I have absolutely loved the opportunity to walk the rows of Kick Ranch with the crews who year after year pruned and tended its vines and also to walk those same rows with the winemakers at Kick Ranch who looked forward to its fruit as expectantly, demandingly and hopefully as I did, year after year.
So many have played a part with us at Kick Ranch. Workers, winemakers, neighbors and friends. Thank you for your support and friendship along the way.
Please continue to follow Kick Ranch as Mark and Beth take over and improve it. Kathy and I wish them much success!
